Our speciality : legal and medical translation

Legal translation

Based upon our experience and our clients’ requirements, we are firmly committed to:

  • Ensuring consistency of translations: in order to assure you of full consistency throughout the translation process, we entrust work on the same subject to the same translator.
  • The loyalty of the translator who has met your expectations is a sign of quality. The creation of a translation memory reserved for your company is an additional guarantee of terminological consistency.

Legal translation is a particularly sophisticated undertaking, which involves matching the principles of two different legal systems. Each system has its own terminology, so the final text needs to be equivalent but not necessarily identical to the source text. Legal translation is similar to localisation work: it is essential to consider the cultural context in order to provide an adequate translation.  Beyond simply translating words, the translation professional needs to transform the underlying legal concepts and institutions.

Legal translation: how do you ensure a high level of quality?

The translation professional is required to demonstrate the following skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of law and associated technical vocabulary.
  • Command of the source language.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Compliance with professional ethics.
  • Diligence.

A commitment to respecting utmost secrecy regarding the files you entrust us with, by signing a confidentiality agreement. We work according to the following principles:

  • We refuse work if we cannot guarantee quality.
  • We are committed to working in accordance with best practice, which includes translating only into our native language.

The law is an ever evolving field; the translation professional must therefore constantly maintain their skills by attending regular training courses and keeping up to date with legal developments:

  • Conducting documentary research, to ensure a perfect understanding and reproduction of the documents to be translated.
  • Not accepting deadlines if they are incompatible with the assignment.

Faced with the increasingly strict and complex regulations that govern the entire medical sector, we have put in place a specific procedure to guarantee the rigour and accuracy of all your medical translation projects:

  • Qualified project coordinators to manage and optimise your translation projects.
  • Terminologist specialised in the creation of glossaries and translation memories.
  • State-of-the-art quality assurance tools.
  • Ability to provide certificates of confidentiality and accuracy.
